In an attempt to sway potential suitors, Chelsea are preparing a bumper contract extension for Eden Hazard, which could reportedly rise up to £300,000 per week.

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea are ready to throw in a bumper £300,000 per week contract for Eden Hazard. The Belgian superstar has been hugely linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout this summer. But, the Blues expect to convince him to commit his long-term future at the club by offering a lucrative contract extension.

Although new manager Maurizio Sarri seems to have convinced Hazard to remain put at Chelsea for the time being, no guarantees can be made regarding his long-term future. Especially given the fact Real Madrid are yet to find their desired replacement for the departing Cristiano Ronaldo earlier this summer.

As a result, the European champions are still keen on the services of the Belgian international, having failed in their pursuit of previous top targets in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have missed out on Champions League action this season. With Hazard’s current contract running out in two years time, the Blues could be in huge risk of losing their prized asset in nigh future. Thus, the contract extension of this highly talented attacker should be deemed imperative as they look to usher in a new era under Sarri.

Moreover, the West London giants also lack the necessary depth in their attacking department for them to cope without Hazard. Attacking superstars in Alvaro Morata, Pedro and Victor Moses are all coming on the back of a disappointing campaign under Antonio Conte. This entails the fact that the Premier League giants will definitely need to spend big bucks on the market in order to sign a proper replacement.

Having said that, replacing a player of Hazard’s calibre could be very difficult, much like Ronaldo at Real Madrid and thus, there is no way they can let go of their Belgian superstar. Add to that the fact that the English transfer window is closed, Chelsea will in no way let Hazard leave, now that there is no possibility to sign a replacement.

As for Real Madrid, they definitely need to act quickly in order to convince Hazard to a move to the Bernabeu. The 27-year-old has already confirmed he won’t be leaving this summer but a transfer in winter could be a possibility.

In fact, it could be a blessing for them as it will allow new coach Julen Lopetegui to assess his current set of players and whether or not they are capable of playing without someone like Ronaldo upfront before flushing out a big money move for Hazard.

In the meantime, however, Chelsea are keen to secure long-term future for few of their other players with N’Golo Kante, Willian and Antonio Rudiger all being lined up for new contract extensions. Thus, it will be interesting to see what transpires in the coming weeks.
