Barcelona have reportedly decided to wait until next summer to launch the offensive for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba

According to an exclusive report by Daily Express, Barcelona are ready to put off their pursuit of Paul Pogba till next summer. The Blaugrana have accepted the fact that Manchester United will not let their prized asset leave at any cost in the next ten days, while a January move is out of the question.

Pogba has endured a testing spell at Old Trafford since rejoining Manchester United in the summer of 2016. There is no denying the fact that the Frenchman has been instrumental for the Premier League heavyweights. But, his inconsistent performances often leave a sour taste in the mouth.

There have also been widespread reports about the 25-year-old not enjoying the best of relationships with Jose Mourinho, which has consequently put his Manchester United future under a cloud. One club that has been keeping a close eye on the developments at Old Trafford, is Barcelona.

The Blaugrana reinforced their midfield this summer by signing Arthur and Arturo Vidal, and conventional wisdom would suggest that Ernesto Valverde now has a complete roster of midfielders. But, Barcelona do not seem to be done just yet, with their eyes firmly set at Manchester United, and Pogba.

It was reported that Barcelona even tabled a shock bid to test the waters. But, the Catalans were quickly rebuffed by Manchester United, who have maintained a firm stance on the availability of the player.

Mourinho also took the initiative to squash the speculation surrounding Pogba’s future. But, the French World Cup winner was recently coy on the subject, which has not gone down well among fans and Manchester United legends alike.

Barcelona though, appear set to call off their pursuit of the 25-year-old, for now. The La Liga champions have come to accept the fact that Pogba will not be allowed to leave this summer, while a January move will not be feasible either.

But, Barcelona are not ceding their interest in the player just yet, with the report suggesting that they will launch the offensive for him next summer. For now, Manchester United can rest easy in the fact that Pogba will stay put at Old Trafford this summer.

The Premier League heavyweights though, will have to step up their efforts to keep him settled, with the threat of Barcelona not gone away just yet. The transfer saga is put on hold, for now.
