AC Milan are planning to capture Chelsea and Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio with a colossal bid of £107 million.

According to a report published by Tribal Football, AC Milan are seeking to add the services of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from Lazio through a staggering £107 million bid, amid interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

Milinkovic-Savic has been a standout performer ever since he joined Lazio from KRC Genk in the summer of 2015. Over the last three seasons, the player has gone about rising in stature, not just in Italian football but in all of Europe, with many regarding him as one of the most promising young midfielders in the continent.

The 2017-18 season was his most productive yet, with Milinkovic-Savic bagging 14 goals and 9 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions. More than his contribution in front of goal, it is his ability to contribute to the defensive side of the game which has brought forth interest from top clubs across Europe, including the league rivals AC Milan, Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Rossoneri finished their last campaign with a 6th on the Serie A table. Therefore, the Italian giants are set to add reinforcements to the squad for the upcoming season. With Ricardo Montolivo and Lucas Biglia entering the final phase of their respective careers, Milinkovic-Savic is a viable long-term target for AC Milan this summer.

However, there are other European clubs who are pursuing the Serbian international, including English giants Manchester United and Chelsea. Jose Mourinho has shown interest in the Lazio superstar as he is aiming to bolster up his squad ahead of the 2018-19 season to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Red Devils have already added Fred to the squad to fortify their midfield. But, Milinkovic-Savic will be a valuable addition. Manchester United’s direct rivals Chelsea are also after the 23-year-old midfielder.

The Blues are undergoing a squad overhaul following a disappointing fifth-placed finish last season. Thus, Maurizio Sarri has been eager to add valuable replacements ahead of the upcoming season. Moreover, the Chelsea boss has already indicated that his squad lacks quality in midfield and thus, the addition of the Serbian international could strengthen them considerably.

However, the Italian side has decided to outmatch both Manchester United and Chelsea by paying a staggering amount for the midfielder. The report suggests that the Rossoneri are willing to offer Lazio an initial £35.6 million loan fee, with an option to sign the 23-year-old permanently for £71.2 million next summer.

If the proposal is accepted by Lazio, it would be a blow to Manchester United and Chelsea, who have been eager to add Milinkovic-Savic to their bolster their respective squads.

It is highly possible that Milinkovic-Savic will make a move away from Rome this summer since every new offer is lucrative enough for both the club and the player. Presently, Lazio seem convinced with the offer by AC Milan but would be ready to hear other offers which would rival the offer made by the Italian giants, and it remains to be seen how things pan out in the coming days.
