Barcelona are reportedly willing to sell Ousmane Dembele for €100 million, with the French international attracting interest from Liverpool.

According to a report by Spanish publication Don Balon, Ousmane Dembele wants to leave Barcelona after just one season. The French international is the subject of interest from Liverpool, who will have to shell out the Blaugrana’s €100 million asking price to secure his services.

Dembele arrived at Barcelona last summer amid a lot of hype surrounding his talent after a stunning 2016-17 campaign with Borussia Dortmund. But, injuries and inconsistent form meant he could never establish himself as a regular at Camp Nou. Things went from bad to worse at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, as the player was an impact substitute at best for the majority of the tournament.

While there have been hopes of a better campaign this time around at Barcelona, the players seems to be in line to share game time on the right flank with summer arrival Malcom. The prospect of not being a regular for another season does not entice Dembele, who could seek a move away from Camp Nou. And, this reportedly has Liverpool interested.

The Reds though, seem stacked in the attacking department, with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane well established as the first-choice wingers. With the superstars unlikely to be on the move this summer, and Xherdan Shaqiri already arriving as a backup, it is hard to see why Dembele would switch allegiances from Barcelona to Liverpool.

But, Barcelona seem open to selling Dembele if he forces through a move, and have slapped a €100 million price tag on the Frenchman. The report also goes on to suggest that Liverpool would be willing to shell out the required sum, which in all fairness seems a tad too much to spend on a player who is unlikely to be a regular, if signed.

This rumour, thus, seems to be an unrealistic one, with Liverpool already covered on options in the wide areas. Dembele too, is unlikely to move away from Barcelona to continue having a reduced role. For now, his best interests will be in staying put at Camp Nou and fight for his place, unless a more attractive prospect emerges, where he could play week-in week-out.
