Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his admiration for Borussia Dortmund starlet Christian Pulisic and has refused to rule out a future move for the winger.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is a big fan of Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic, amid speculations that the Reds could make a move for the 19-year old, as per Liverpool Echo.

Pulisic, who was making his way through the youth ranks when Klopp was the manager at Dortmund, has been consistently linked with a move to Anfield in the recent past. In fact, the Merseyside outfit reportedly had an £11 million offer rejected by the Bundesliga giants in the summer of 2016.

Rumours linking the USMNT international to Liverpool have refused to subside, however. And, amid the speculations, Klopp was asked about Pulisic and the club’s interest in the player, to which he replied:

“I like Christian, I’ve known him since he was a kid. He’s still not really old, he’s a fantastic player, and it’s deserved people think highly of him in America. In Germany it’s the same.

“If – at one point – he will join us, I don’t know. I like him, it’s not that that could be the problem, but we respect contracts still and there’s no market I know about at the moment. We did our business and Dortmund are doing theirs. All good.”

Pulisic has developed into one of the finest young prospects in European football since bursting out onto the scenes at Dortmund a couple of years ago. The 19-year old has racked up 97 appearances for the German outfit, scoring 12 goals and setting up 20 more in the process.

In the 2017-18 campaign, the winger chipped in with 5 goals and 7 assists in 42 matches across all competitions, having gone through a bit of a rough patch in the second half of the term.

Pulisic has started off the pre-season on a strong note though, impressing against Premier League champions Manchester City last Friday, before stealing the show against his suitors, Liverpool, on Sunday. The 19-year old scored a brace as Dortmund came from behind to beat the Reds 3-1 in the International Champions Cup.

And his starring display on the weekend drew further praise from Klopp. Speaking after the game, the German tactician said (h/t FourFourTwo): “I didn’t see anything new, just that he’s a bit older and has new tattoos! He’s a fantastic skilled boy, and it’s not a surprise to see.”

While it is clearly evident that Klopp is a huge admirer of Pulisic’s talents and abilities, a move for the 19-year old this summer does seem unlikely, considering that the Merseysiders have only recently added Xherdan Shaqiri to their attacking contingent, that also comprises of the deadly trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. However, as the Liverpool manager hinted, a transfer in the near future remains a distinct possibility.
