Manchester United are reportedly set to rekindle their interest in Austrian attacker Marko Arnautovic, with West Ham United open to selling.

As per reports from the TransferMarketWeb.com, Premier League giants Manchester United have reignited their pursuit of West Ham United forward Marko Arnautovic.

The 29-year old Austrian international had been heavily linked with a move to the Old Trafford earlier this summer, but the Hammers’ demand of £60 million fee for the player seemed to have derailed the move. However, United are understood to be back in the hunt for Arnautovic, with the East London outfit willing to listen to offers for him.

Arnautovic joined West Ham only last summer from Stoke City, for a then club record fee of £20 million. After a disappointing start to his stint in London, the 29-year old turned it on in the latter stages of the campaign, helping his new club avoid the drop. The forward finished the 2017/18 season with 11 goals and 6 assists in 31 Premier League appearances.

West Ham have easily been the most active Premier League club in the ongoing transfer window so far. Under the new management of Manuel Pellegrini, the Irons have already made seven signings. They recently broke the club transfer record for the second time this summer, signing Felipe Anderson from Lazio in a £42 million deal.

The Brazilian is not the only attacking reinforcement to arrive at the London Olympic Stadium this summer, with West Ham also landing Ukrainian forward Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £17.5 million.

And as a result, the club are understood to be willing to offers for Arnautovic now, despite the 29-year old having four years left on his contract. And this has opened a window of opportunity for Manchester United, who are now looking to make a swoop for the forward.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains in the market for a new forward, as he looks to boost his attacking options ahead of what will be a crucial season for him and the club.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea manager is intent on building a squad capable of posing a serious challenge to neighbours Manchester City in the Premier League title race and competing strongly on multiple fronts.

And as a result, the 20-time English champions have been strongly linked with a move for Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, while Mourinho is also understood to be looking at Croatian international Ante Rebic, after the attacker impressed the Portuguese with his performances in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Arnautovic, with his experience and proven pedigree in the Premier League, has the potential to be a solid investment for the Mancunians and is likely to cost them much lesser in comparison to Bale. With West Ham also now open to selling the 29-year old, it remains to be seen if Manchester United act on their reported interest in the player.
