Manchester United are reportedly preparing a huge bid for Harry Maguire, who is valued at somewhere around £50 million by Leicester City.

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are readying a huge bid for World Cup breakout star Harry Maguire. The Leicester star has been the story of not just his town but an entire nation so far. And according to the report, The Red Devils are preparing to test Leicester’s resolve over Maguire’s transfer status.

The hurdle that Manchester United could face is Leicester’s valuation of the World Cup star. The Foxes are holding out for £50 million for the player, who has caught the attention of many of England’s top clubs.

Harry Maguire’s graph has been on the up-and-up ever since he arrived in the Premier League with Hull City. The Tigers went back down to the Championship. But, Maguire was snapped up by Leicester City. The 2017-18 campaign has seen Maguire solidify his position as one of the best centre-backs in England.

But, it is his display in Russia that has propelled him to superstar status. Gareth Southgate took a risk by opting to start Maguire in a back three ahead of veteran Gary Cahill. But, the Leicester star has vindicated his manager’s decision by putting in impressive shifts at the back.

Maguire even opened his account for the national team during the World Cup, in a 2-0 win over Sweden to register their place in the semi-finals. England though, succumbed to Croatia and have since lost the third-place playoff to Belgium by a scoreline of 2-0.

With the squad set to return, Harry Maguire will have an important choice to make. Jose Mourinho is far from happy with his central defensive options. Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are likely to be on the chopping block, leaving Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof as the two main choices.

Bailly too, seems to have lost ground after an impressive debut season at the club. Lindelof has had a great World Cup and may have just boosted his chances of becoming a starter for Manchester United in the 2017-18 campaign. And Jose Mourinho intends to pair the player with another World Cup star, Harry Maguire.

While a move to Manchester United does sound tempting, Leicester are ready to increase Harry Maguire’s wages to £75,000 per week to convince the star to remain at King Power.

As mentioned above, Maguire will have a choice to make. The Englishman could opt to prolong his stay at Leicester and be content with his bump in wages. Or, he could take up the chance to move to a club of Manchester United’s stature. The ball, as they say, is is Harry Maguire’s court.
