Barcelona are reportedly interested in Eden Hazard and are eager to beat Real Madrid in their pursuit of the Chelsea superstar.

Spanish publication Sport are running a story that Barcelona are plotting a move for Eden Hazard. The Catalans are getting more and more serious about signing Eden Hazard as each day passes. But, they will have to compete with Real Madrid, who are long-term admirers of the Belgian superstar.

Eden Hazard is the cream of the crop at Chelsea, and perhaps, the Premier League as well. While Hazard arrived in England as a talented personality, the Belgian has blossomed into a complete package. Hazard’s close ball control and darting runs are a trademark now.

His skills were on display at the 2018 FIFA World Cup as well. Belgium managed to reach the semi-finals, with captain Hazard continuing his habit of terrorizing defences with his ability. But, the Red Devils fell short to France by a solitary goal. With the grand event now over for Hazard, it is time to return to club football.

Chelsea though, would be hoping he will stay beyond the summer when he reports for pre-season. Eden Hazard has been on the radar of Real Madrid for a long time, with Barcelona now joining the race as well. With the Belgian himself not ruling out a move, stating that his future at Chelsea depends on their ability to sign quality players, he might not be at Stamford Bridge for long.

Real Madrid’s want for Eden Hazard has now converted to need after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. There has been talks of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar coming in. But, PSG will drive a hard bargain and Real know Chelsea would be an easier negotiator, with Eden Hazard also gunning for a move.

Barcelona though, have entered the chase and if the murmurs around the club are to be believed, the Catalans are serious about their interest in Hazard. Ousmane Dembele has failed to replace Neymar’s presence on the pitch, which has seen Ernesto Valverde stick to his preferred 4-4-2 formation.

Eden Hazard’s technical ability combined with his eye for passes could see him become a hybrid replacement for Andres Iniesta and Neymar.

Keeping in mind that Eden Hazard will cost either club in at least three figures, judging by the current transfer market conditions, a player of his calibre is worth Chelsea’s valuation, whatever it might be.

With Maurizio Sarri coming in at Chelsea, there might be a lot of shuffling, in the backroom and the roster. Eden Hazard may be one Sarri does not want to let go. But, the Italian may have to sacrifice Hazard if Real Madrid and Barcelona come knocking.

Sadly, it looks like they will be, soon.
