Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer a bumper new deal worth £150,000 per week to Jesse Lingard after a strong 2017-18 campaign

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United are eager to offer a fresh contract to Jesse Lingard despite tying him to a four-year deal last summer. The Red Devils are looking to double the English international’s wages to around £150,000 per week after his impressive 2017-18 campaign as well as World Cup heroics.

Lingard took some time to grow within the first-team setup at Manchester United after first being called up to the squad in 2011. While he impressed during various pre-season tours for the club, the player was unable to establish himself in the first-team squad, and was regularly hauled off to various clubs on loan deals.

Lingard finally got his first big break in the side under Louis van Gaal in the 2015-16 season, which turned out to be his true breakout campaign at Manchester United. After scoring his first senior goal in November that season, the English international gradually grew in stature before scoring the winner in the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

Under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho, the only way has been up for Lingard, who is now a regular fixture at Old Trafford whilst also making it a habit to score plenty of eye catching goals. In fact, he is one of the few attackers whose status hasn’t been affected by the arrival of Alexis Sanchez at Manchester United earlier this year.

The confidence that he enjoys from Mourinho can also be seen from the fact that Manchester United are now ready to offer him a bumper new deal, despite only tying him to a four-year contract last summer.

Heading into the World Cup, Lingard had been coming off the best ever club season of his club career – he had 13 goals and 7 in 48 appearances across all competitions – and he has continued performing strongly in Russia. Thus far at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, he has a goal and an assist in 3 outings, and has been one of the best attackers for England.

Manchester United have been left impressed by the player’s consistency, which is why they are now lining up an offer to him. The new contract will double his wages to around £150,000 per week, which signals just how big a stature he enjoys at Old Trafford.

Considering his love for his boyhood club, the English international should agree terms on the new deal soon. It is likely that the new contract will be tabled as soon as England’s World Cup campaign is over, and we should see Lingard putting pen to paper on his bumper new contract soon.
