Premier League giants Manchester United have been dealt with a huge blow in their pursuit of transfer target Willian, who is eager to move to Barcelona this summer.

Manchester United transfer target Willian Borges has finally decided to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after months of speculations regarding his potential departure. The Chelsea star has been linked with a move to Manchester United for a long-time. But, FC Barcelona have emerged as a real threat to the Red Devils’ pursuit of Willian.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the Brazilian international is keen on a move to Nou Camp in the upcoming season and has already instructed his agent Kia Joorabchian to facilitate the move. However, Chelsea have remained stubborn on their €80 million valuation for their prized attacker with Barcelona unwilling to match that figure, yet.

That being said, the Catalan giants are believed to be ready to offer either Andre Gomes, Rafinha or Paulinho as part of the deal in an attempt to lower Chelsea’s monetary demand. Yerry Mina is also thought to be on the chopping block but his name has not been included in the report as a potential make-weight.

Manchester United, on the other hand, will be devastated to miss out on the services of Willian, who has been a consistent performer in the Premier League for the past few seasons. The Red Devils, despite acquiring the signature of Arsenal custodian Alexis Sanchez earlier this year, are eager to strengthen their attacking department as they look to pose a strong challenge for the title next season.

Jose Mourinho, however, is yet to figure out the right combination when it comes to attack with both Anthony Martial and Juan Mata facing an uncertain future at the club. Martial, in particular, has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer. Thus, Willian’s addition could have steadied the ship as far as their attacking lineup is concerned.

Elsewhere, Barcelona will be hugely bolstered by the addition of Willian. The Chelsea winger can solve their problems on the left flank following the struggle of Ousmane Dembele last season. The Frenchman is yet to show his full potential at Barcelona after his big-money move from Dortmund last summer.

In addition, former Liverpool sensation Philipe Coutinho has been excellent in this World Cup and is prepared to replicate his fiery performances in the club level next season.

And while the pending arrival of Gremio’s Arthur will only strengthen their midfield, it’s also fair to point out that the inclusion of Willian alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez could potentially make Barcelona the most feared team in Europe next season.
