Chelsea superstar Thibaut Courtois is ready to leave the club, in favour of making a dream move to Real Madrid this summer.

Latest reports from Mirror suggest that Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be on the verge of leaving Chelsea this summer as he plans an audacious to Real Madrid. The Belgian international is listed as one of Real Madrid’s top targets this summer as they look to replace Keylor Navas and thus, a move to the Spanish capital could be on the horizon for the Chelsea shot-stopper.

The Belgian No.1 has confirmed that he will make a decision regarding his long-term future at Chelsea as he enters the final 12 months of the current contract. It is believed that the former Atletico keeper won’t likely sign an extension in favour of a move to his ‘preferred destination’ this summer.

Courtois said,“I have a certain preferred destination. I have some ideas in my mind, but I’m focusing on the World Cup and have pushed all decisions ahead until after the tournament.”

Sources firmly believe that his preferred destination will likely be Real Madrid considering the fact that Courtois’s former partner lives in the Spanish capital along with his two kids. And with the Belgian international further stressing that his kids “will play an important role” in his decision, it’s almost obvious that Courtois is planning a move to Real Madrid with his former club Atletico completely out of the picture.

This could be a huge boost for the European champions, who have lacked the services of a reliable goalkeeper ever since the deterioration of the legendary Iker Casillas. While Keylor Navas has shown signs of brilliance at times during his career with Los Blancos, the Costa Rican has largely enjoyed a topsy-turvy stint at the Bernabeu. And his poor form last season has raised doubts over his capability of being Real Madrid’s first choice keeper for the long-term.

Therefore, the Spanish giants have been actively searching for a proper replacement and Thibaut Courtois could be an ideal option given the fact that the Belgian international boasts vast experience at the highest level of football. During his time with Atletico, Courtois showed immense promise which eventually earned him a call-up from the Chelsea first team and he didn’t disappoint either.

The 26-year-old played a crucial role as Chelsea secured two Premier League titles in three years. He also helped the Blues win the English FA Cup last season. Hence, Courtois is no stranger when it comes to winning trophies, a trait that is largely synonymous with a club like Real Madrid, thus, making him an ideal fit for Los Blancos.

That being said, Thibaut Courtois isn’t Real Madrid’s number one goalkeeping target at the moment despite a series of speculation over the past couple of months. Brazilian sensation Alisson is apparently the one who’s blocking the European champions from making a move for the Chelsea star.

The Roma goalkeeper has already attracted a host of interest from top European clubs this summer but Real Madrid are believed to be the front-runners for his signature, along with Chelsea.

Therefore, it remains to be seen whether or not can Chelsea manage to pip the Spanish giants for the signature of Alisson Becker this summer, which in turn, could allow Courtois to make his dream move to Real Madrid.
