Napoli have turned down Chelsea’s €42m bid for Elseid Hysaj, with the Italian giants holding out for at least €60m.

According to the latest report from Transfermarketweb, Napoli have rejected a €42m Chelsea bid for Elseid Hysaj. The Albanian defender has been reportedly identified as a top target for Maurizio Sarri, who is expected to take over at Chelsea this summer.

Napoli, who have already appointed Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager for next season, are in danger of losing out on few of their key players with former coach Sarri set to take over charge at Stamford Bridge. The Italian mastermind has a strong relationship with a host of Napoli’s key players and Elseid Hysaj is certainly one of them.

Since moving to Napoli in the summer of 2015. Elseid Hysaj has enjoyed astounding success in the Italian top flight, especially on an individual level. 24-year-old has flourished under the leadership of the Italian mastermind, that has seen him transform into one of the best right-backs in the Serie A.

During his three-year stint with Napoli, Hysaj has made over 135 appearances for the Ciuciarellis and also played a key role as Napoli almost toppled Juventus for the title race last season. However, he is yet to win a major trophy with the Naples outfit and despite having three years remaining on his current contract, the Albanian international will likely seek pastures new this summer.

And as it seems, Hysaj won’t be short of possible suitors with Chelsea already making some grounds in order to secure his services this summer.

Following a disappointing season in the English top flight, the Londoners are expected to undergo a busy transfer window, which could include the appointment of Maurizio Sarri. Although Antonio Conte has done a significantly good job in solidifying Chelsea’s defence during his two-year stint with the club, the right-back position still remains a weak point for the Blues despite boasting a seasoned performer in Victor Moses.

In fact, the Nigerian international has already shown signs of weakness in the ongoing FIFA World Cup as the West-Africans bow out of the competition in the group stage. Therefore, Hysaj is a viable target for Chelsea as they look to bolster their squad in the summer transfer window.

Known for his attacking style of play, Elseid Hysaj is generally an aggressive fullback, who can not only prove to be a handful for the opposition, but is also proficient in general link-up play. He has an excellent first-touch, which allows him to create space for himself, especially in the final third. In addition, he is a very good athlete, making him a tailor-made fit for a club like Chelsea.

That being said, Napoli have shown no intentions of selling their prized defensive asset, meaning Chelsea will definitely have to increase their bid in order to secure his services this summer. However, a bid around of €60m is considered good enough to lure the Italian giants into selling the Albanian international.
