After talks with new PSG boss Thomas Tuchel, Marco Verratti might consider his future in Paris, putting big clubs on alert including Manchester United.
A report on Calciomercato suggests that Marco Verratti is considering his future at PSG after holding talks with new manager Thomas Tuchel. In the aftermath of these talks, there is news that Verratti might have been offered to some of Europe and Premier League’s biggest clubs, and the list includes Manchester United.
Marco Verratti has been long subjected to interest from many of Europe’s biggest clubs, most notably from Barcelona, who considered him as an heir to former midfielder Xavi. Those overtures were turned down by the pint-sized Italian midfielder, but there seems to be a new chapter brewing regarding his future at French Champions PSG.
Verratti is considered to be one of PSG’s most important players and in the past, managers as well as the President have reiterated their desire to hold on to the midfielder. The player has been respectful of those attempts and has since stayed put at the French capital.
Since the arrival of former Borussia Dortmund manager, Thomas Tuchel, who replaced Unai Emery as head coach of the Parisian club, there are changes expected at the club to make them Champions League favourites. Tuchel is a person who is known for his meticulous practices and a keen eye for the minutest of details when it comes to his players and their fitness.
There have been suggestions that since holding talks with the new manager, Verratti might be considering his options based upon new plans laid out for him by the German. Tuchel, however, has stressed on the importance of the Italian and what he would mean to the team, but has indicated that no player can escape his methods.
The aftermath of this meeting has reportedly left Verratti unhappy and has him considering his future at the club. Super agent Mino Raiola, who is known for his erratic methods, but also to get the best for his clients, has started offering Verratti to other big European clubs including the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Manchester United.
While Barcelona are not interested and Real among those, who cannot say anything at the moment, leaving the other two as the only option. While Juventus would be open to the idea for Verratti to join them, they might baulk at the price tag PSG would suggest for their player, leaving only with one viable option.
Manchester United have the means and resources to bring the Italian to Old Trafford, but they are still understood to be evaluating this offer. The Premier League side have already signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk a few weeks ago and are already looking at a crowded midfield.
This could change in the scenario that Paul Pogba, who is linked with a move away from Old Trafford departs the club, making way for Verratti. There is, however, little chance of that happening. If it does, however, then Manchester United could be looking for a high profile replacement, and Verratti sure does fit the bill.
