Manchester United superstar David de Gea has refused to rule out a potential exit this summer, with Real Madrid reportedly keen to secure his services next season.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have been linked with a move for David de Gea for a long time now. The Manchester United star has been identified as a perfect man to replace Keylor Navas in goal next season and Los Blancos might be presented with another opportunity to sign the Spanish international this summer.

In fact, the 27-year-old was on the verge of joining the European champions three years ago but his deadline day transfer broke down due to paperwork issues.

However, Real Madrid have been handed a huge boost this week in their pursuit of signing de Gea as the player has refused to rule out a possible exit from Manchester United this summer.

After being probed regarding his future in the Premier League next season, the Spanish goalkeeper said: “My future? The important thing is the World Cup and not to think of anything else that can divert you or upset you.”

“You have to be focused on having a good World Cup – we are all good. Hopefully, we can go far and win.”

“Football is football and a thousand things can happen.”, he added.

Considering the fact that Manchester United have constantly failed to impress in the Premier League, following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, it might be a perfect time for de Gea to seek pastures new. In addition, Jose Mourinho’s team finished trophyless last campaign, which can cause some severe damage in their hopes of clinging on to David de Gea this summer.

On the contrary, Real Madrid have found astounding success under Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman led Los Blancos to three consecutive Champions League titles whilst bagging one league title. In fact, Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has reportedly admitted that Real Madrid have the best players in every position of the field.

However, that being said, the goalkeeper may not be one of those positions at the moment as the current first-choice keeper Keylor Navas has made a plethora of mistakes last campaign. His inconsistent performances drew criticism even from his sets of fans. Therefore, Los Blancos seem to be in need of a new keeper next season and no other keepers fits into that spot as well as David de Gea.

Known for his incredible shot-stopping abilities, the Spanish international has been a consistent performer for the past few years. He has also proved that he can perform in the highest level of football, making him a tailor-made fit for a club like Real Madrid.

De Gea, however, is currently in Russia preparing for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. He is expected to play a key role in between the sticks, as the 2010 World Champions aim not to replicate their disastrous 2014 campaign. It remains to be seen whether or not will he make the much-anticipated big-money move to Madrid this summer.
