Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to hold talks with Manchester United regarding Anthony Martial, who is reportedly available this summer.

Latest reports from Daily Mail suggest that Tottenham will step up their interest in Anthony Martial. The Manchester United starlet is currently unsettled at the club and is destined for a big-money move this summer. Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino has already identified the Frenchman as his desired player, who can bolster his side’s attacking department next season.

Anthony Martial, who has not been named in France’s 23 man squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, is also keen on moving to pastures new this summer. Following the appointment of Jose Mourinho, the Frenchman has had a rough time at Old Trafford. Despite showing glimpses of enormous potential, at times this season, Martial has lacked the end product, especially in the second half of the season.

Martial scored his last goal in the Premier League back in January this year, a disappointing record which has kept him out of a regular place in the starting lineup.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have promised head coach Mauricio Pochettino of acquiring the services of all his top targets this summer, following a rather satisfying campaign. Although the Lilywhites haven’t yet started their transfer activity so far, making a move for Anthony Martial could be a step in the right direction.

Pochettino has reportedly identified the pacy forward as one of his top targets this summer as he prepares to pose a strong challenge for the title next season. Even though the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen have been highly impressive throughout the course of last season, the Argentinian is keen to build a squad capable of sustaining a title tilt.

Blessed with sheer pace and technical abilities, Anthony Martial could be a perfect fit for Tottenham, especially with Erik Lamela suffering from frequent injuries in the last couple of years. In addition, new signing Lucas Moura has yet to get his feet sorted out in the Premier League. The former PSG starlet has made only seven league appearances since joining the club earlier this year.

On the flip side, however, Manchester United will also be eager to maximize the value of Anthony Martial as they ready themselves for a potential spending spree this summer. The Red Devils acquired the services of the Frenchman for a fee of £38 million. But that being said, the transfer was loaded with expensive add-ons, which escalated the value to as much as £58 million.

Anthony Martial’s contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the next season, meaning the Red Devils shouldn’t expect a huge sum for the French international. However, considering the fact that a host of clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal, have already shown a keen interest in his services, league rivals Tottenham Hotspur will likely have to flush out a lot of sum in order to lure him to London this summer.
