Chelsea is approaching Laurent Blanc to take over managerial duties of Chelsea after certain exit of Antonio Conte from the club.

The former PSG manager is set to be targeted by Chelsea to handle the managerial duties of the West London club, as Laurent Blanc suddenly emerged to be a serious candidate for the job. According to a report by English publication Daily Mail, it is likely that Blanc would take the offer as he has not managed any team since his departure from PSG in 2016.

The Guardian revealed that rumors about Laurent Blanc turning into a manager of blues heightened after the Chelsea board maintained a strategic distance from the due date to pay Maurizio Sarri’s release clause, who was under contract with Napoli until 2020 yet never again in control after a separating of courses towards the finish of the season – they won’t pay his €8 million (£7 million) release clause.

It is also alleged that Blanc is being suggested as a top preference after Chelsea are said to have discovered things about Sarri’s past, mainly a touchline exchange with now-Italy boss Roberto Mancini comprising homophobic slurs. Sarri was fined €20,000 and banned for two Coppa Italia matches. In the midst of Chelsea already dealing with a record of abuse and racism claims, there is understandably an attempt to refrain from a controversial manager.

With all the options in consideration, Chelsea said to have former Blues manager Avram Grant lined up as a last resort. Grant beforehand oversaw Chelsea for a solitary season and took the team to the 2008-09 UEFA Champions League final, also they didn’t lose a home game amid his short reign, but according to various football experts and journalists, the appointment of Grant, who is the current in charge of North-east United FC in Indian Super League will not be a progressive and far-sighted one.

The club’s needs seem to have changed after club owner Roman Abramovich wasn’t allowed to renew his visa and postponed his plans for their new 60,000-seat stadium, with his future in the United Kingdom said to be in question.

The Russian owner of the club recently gained a citizenship of Israel as the country provides immediate citizenship to any Jew wishing to reside there, the Israeli-passport holders can enter into Britain for short visits without visa, although they require a visa to work there.

Abramovich’s intentions to redesign Chelsea’s stadium are on hold as the Russian is said to be uncertain of financing such capital into a city that has all of a sudden made him feel so “unwelcome.”

Just to add into existing pressure, Chelsea is at an advanced stage to sell their first choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard’s apparent desire to leave Chelsea has been noted as a contribution to a chaos like situation in the club.

The appointment of the new manager at Chelsea is still a big question, as the internal conflicts in the club are worsening the business every day. Will Chelsea still be able to appoint Sarri surrounding so many complications from Napoli or will it give a shot to their so called “last resort” Grant or would we see Blanc making his managerial return after 2 years?
