Manchester United are reportedly in the running to land 15-year-old Jake Garrett, with the Red Devils tracking the Blackburn Rovers wonderkid.

According to ESPN, Manchester United are in the running for Blackburn Rovers wonderkid Jake Garrett. The report entails that a host of Premier League and Championship clubs are tracking the 15-year-old English youngster with a view to securing his signature.

Robust and comfortable in possession with able defensive skills, Jake Garrett’s name has been doing the rounds within Blackburn Rovers, with the youngsters highly regarded as a bright talent by the coaches at the club, who have tipped the 15-year-old for a big future.

Jake Garrett has already represented Blackburn at the under-18 level, impressing onlookers and coaches alike, while also putting in noticeable shifts playing for the England under-15 side. According to the report, it is his displays for England that have brought forth attention from the higher tier English clubs.

While Manchester United, Leicester City, Crystal Palace, Watford, Leeds, Derby and Fulham have been named, there are likely to be more clubs monitoring Garrett’s development at Ewood Park. The clubs may test Blackburn’s resolve to keep a hold of their prized academy asset.

Manchester United are the most prominent side to be named in pursuit of the 15-year-old. The Red Devils had appointed Nicky Butt to oversee the revamp of the youth setup, which included heavy youth recruitment including a new under-18 coach. With them achieving some success, the club is thought to be moving in the right direction of restoring their old prominence in the World as producer of Elite talents.

But, a fair number of the players are set to promoted to the Under-23s, which also need attention after they were relegated in what was a disappointing campaign. This will open up spots within the Under-18 side and United are looking to bring in Jake Garrett to shore up the backline.

At 15, the Blackburn prodigy is already proving that he has the qualities to become a modern centre-back and his addition will go a long way in strengthening the United under-18 backline, which had often crumbled in important games conceding late goals, case in point being the defeat in the FA Youth Cup.

Jake Garrett seems like a bright prospect and Manchester United are likely to attempt to land the 15-year-old on scholar deal. The move though, depends on Garrett and United’s ability to entice the young centre-back.
