Willian has insisted that he is happy at Chelsea amid interest from Manchester United over a possible move in the summer.

As reported by Daily Mirror, Willian has had his say on widespread speculation linking him with a move away from Chelsea in the summer, reaffirming that he is happy at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Willian finally seems to have established himself as a regular under Antonio Conte after 18 months of playing second fiddle to Pedro in attack. The player has, in fact, been the single most consistent player for Chelsea in the second half of the season, even as the Blues have imploded over the last three months.

In what has been one of his most productive senior campaigns to date, the Brazil international has 13 goals and 11 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions. His exploits have piqued the interest of several big name clubs across Europe, with Manchester United at the head of the chasing pack.

The Red Devils have been hot in pursuit of Willian ever since Jose Mourinho was appointed at the helm in 2016. Over the last two summer transfer windows, Manchester United have unsuccessfully tried to sign the 29-year-old, but they haven’t ended their interest in the Chelsea winger yet and for good reason.

Mourinho has been on the lookout for a naturally right-sided winger ever since last summer, with Juan Mata the only player who can operate on the flank effectively. The fact that Mata is not a winger only goes on to show just how adverse the situation is for Manchester United, who are eerily left-heavy.

The Red Devils are, thus, weighing up yet another assault on the Chelsea man in the coming summer transfer window. But, Willian has handed Manchester United a major blow in their bid to finally land him, insisting that he is only focused on helping the Blues to win more titles.

“I like to play for Chelsea. On the pitch I want to do my best always to fight until the last minute. To do my best for this club. To continue to win titles because this club deserves always to win titles.”

Willian’s comments suggest that he is not looking to move away from Chelsea just yet, indicating that rumours of a possible summer renewal of his contract might just be true. It now remains to be seen if Manchester United still try signing the player in the summer, or if they turn their attention elsewhere.
