Manchester United are reportedly interested in Aaron Ramsey, but face competition from Serie A giants Juventus in pursuit of the Arsenal midfielder.
According to The Sun, Hector Bellerin is not the only Arsenal player that seems to be in the midst of a tug-of-war between Manchester United and Juventus. The Red Devils have reportedly started taking a keen interest in Aaron Ramsey, but face competition from the Serie A giants in pursuit of the midfielder as well.
Aaron Ramsey is one of the players who was tipped to take over the footballing world with his technical ability. But, a gruesome long-term injury derailed the midfielder’s progress to an extent and years after the incident, the player is still seen as a unfinished product, despite being one of the key contributors in attack for Arsenal.
This season, Ramsey has struck an uncanny partnership with Granit Xhaka at the base of the 4-2-3-1, which has in fact, increased his influence on the buildup and his role in Arsenal’s attacks, something the statistics back, with Ramsey boasting a record of 6 goals and 8 assists in 19 Premier League appearances so far this season.
But, Ramsey has himself admitted that he is not Arsenal’s priority at the moment, with the club focused on tying other players to long-term contracts while the Welshman’s deal is set to expire in the summer of 2019. This has, thus, brought forth speculation linking the midfielder to a summer departure from the club. Juventus and Manchester United seem interested in the prospect of adding the adventurous midfielder to their respective squads.
At Juventus, the goals from midfield have somewhat dried up after the departure of Paul Pogba. While they have brought in others, the lack of goals from midfield has had an effect on their current Serie A campaign, something they are looking to rectify in the summer with the addition of Ramsey.
At Manchester United, problems are starting to emerge as regards Paul Pogba’s role in the midfield. While there are reports that Jose Mourinho will look to add another midfielder to pair alongside Nemanja Matic and provide more freedom to Pogba, there are contradictory reports suggesting United could be open to offers for the Frenchman.
In case the latter ends up happening, United’s pursuit of Ramsey would make more sense, given the fact that the Welshman and Pogba are almost identical in their role in midfield.
The report states that Arsenal could be willing to listen to offers around £35 million for Ramsey, although it remains to be seen whether they would be open to the prospect of another player opting to join Manchester United, which could give Juventus an edge come summer.
Nevertheless, Ramsey is a player who has vast experience of Premier League football under his belt and would be an ideal signing for Manchester United, but only if Pogba does end up leaving. Otherwise, United might just end up creating an overload in another position after Alexis Sanchez’s arrival has made the attack too left-heavy.
