Marcus Rashford is the latest Manchester United player to be linked with a move to Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez keen on the Englishman.

Spanish publication Don Balon suggests that David De Gea is not the only Manchester United sensation who is on Real Madrid’s radar as Los Blancos plan their summer overhaul. Academy graduate and English sensation Marcus Rashford is being eyed by Real president Florentino Perez as the perfect player to lead the club’s frontline.

Marcus Rashford burst onto the scene at Manchester United under Louis Van Gaal. And while there were early doubts surrounding his future after the appointment of Jose Mourinho, the striker has been one of the most-played players within the squad under the Portuguese, albeit mostly out wide rather than as a natural frontman.

This season itself; despite several pundits pointing to a lack of action for Marcus Rashford, the Englishman has played 42 games in all competitions so far, with a more than decent return of 12 goals and 9 assists to show for his efforts.

But, as pointed out by several experts, Marcus Rashford’s progression has stalled to an extent, at least as far as his growth as a striker is concerned. His brace against Liverpool in the Premier League showed just how dangerous he can be, but the lack of appearances in his natural position might prove to be a hindrance.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, are looking for a player to replace Karim Benzema in attack. Marcus Rashford’s name has sprung up earlier as well. But, the player might just be more open to offers, especially, when the offer is to lead the attack of a team as iconic as Real Madrid.

With Rashford now experienced in the wing roles as well, his arrival would also add interchangeability between the players in attack and allow Cristiano Ronaldo more freedom upfront.

At 20, Rashford has the world at his feet. The Manchester United academy graduate has proven himself in the Premier League, in Europe and at the international level as well – also under different managers. Rashford is no longer a prodigy, but a budding superstar.

Manchester United too, would hate to lose a player like Rashford – born and brought up around the club and been associated with them for more than a decade. The 20-year-old is a local lad who has managed to capture the imagination of not just the Manchester United fans but also supporters of the England National Team.

But, with Rashford not really being given much of a chance to lead the attack and Real Madrid plotting a summer move for him, we could just see, to much surprise, the striker switch clubs in the upcoming transfer window.

Real Madrid though, would have to stump up a humongous fee to get Manchester United to even listen to their offer for a player who is arguably, the best player to make the step up from United’s academy in the recent years.
