Chelsea are reportedly monitoring the situation surrounding Aaron Ramsey’s situation at Arsenal and are ready to move for the player in the summer.
According to The Mirror, Chelsea could be set to move for another Arsenal player when the transfer window reopens. The player in question is midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who has been touted to be on his way out of Emirates, with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2018-19 season.
Aaron Ramsey recovered from a horrific leg injury and while the player has often not lived up to the billing of being the wonderkid he was touted to be, the midfielder has always been prolific for Arsenal, with his desire to venture up the field a boon, but also a bane at time for the club.
While being fielded in a pivot, Ramsey’s venture towards the front third of the pitch creates an overload in midfield for the opposition to exploit and Arsenal have often had to pay the price. But, Ramsey as a player still is a lucrative target for clubs that need a box-to-box midfielder or an advanced playmaker of sorts, in their team.
Chelsea have been fielded a 3-4-2-1 but Conte has often experimented with a 3-5-2. One of the main problems with the 3-5-2 formation is a lack of players to fill the desired midfield roles, with N’Golo Kante a certain starter. But, apart from the Frenchman, Conte has been seen shuffling his pack, thus signalling that there are no other players he trusts to be a permanent part of the starting eleven.
Aaron Ramsey could prove to be a valuable addition regardless of the formation Chelsea choose to go forward with, given the fact that Antonio Conte has been largely tipped to leave the club at the end of the season. Ramsey’s will to drive forward can be an asset to Chelsea, with N’Golo Kante providing the balance in midfield.
Also, with the strikers not really firing, Ramsey’s goals could add another potent threat to Chelsea’s arsenal. Arsenal on the other hand, could also be willing to part with the player, with the club heading into an inevitable rebuilding phase in the summer.
Whether Arsene Wenger stays or goes might play a part in Aaron Ramsey’s decision, but chances are the Welshman would take up the offer of joining Chelsea regardless of the Frenchman’s future endeavours. No fee has been associated with Ramsey’s name thus far but it is likely to not be a hefty one, considering the player wants to leave and will have just one year remaining on his contract.
