Manchester United are reportedly ready to offer a double-your-money deal to Alex Sandro, with Matteo Darmian as a makeweight in their summer offer

According to a report by Irish Mirror, Manchester United are prepared to offer Alex Sandro a double-your-money deal to make the switch to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window. The Red Devils are also set to offer Matteo Darmian as a sweetener to Juventus.

Alex Sandro has become one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe since joining Juventus from Porto in the summer of 2015. Part of the core of the team that has led the Bianconeri to continued success in Italy, the player is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the world.

This season, Alex Sandro has featured 29 times for Juventus in all competitions, also contributing to his team’s cause with three goals and six assists. But, his future at the Allianz Stadium has been uncertain for several months now, with reports suggesting that he’s ready to move away from the club, with Manchester United leading the race to sign him.

The left-back slot at Manchester United has become stable over the course of the season, with Ashley Young stepping up in his makeshift role and Luke Shaw finally starting to win Jose Mourinho over after an underwhelming 2016-17 campaign under the Portuguese.

But, Young is on the wrong side of 30 and in the twilight of his career. And while Shaw is reportedly set to be offered a new deal, his future continues to remain uncertain. Alex Sandro is, thus, a viable target for Manchester United, who could get the best years of the Brazilian’s career, and they might just have an ace up their sleeves.

Juventus have slapped a £70 million price tag on Alex Sandro’s head. Manchester United though, are ready to use Bianconeri’s long-standing interest in Matteo Darmian by offering him as a makeweight to not just drive the price down, but also tempt the Serie A champions to sell the Brazilian.

As far as the player himself is concerned, Manchester United are ready to double his wages to £145,000-a-week to convince him to switch allegiances in the summer. With a masterplan set to come into effect, it now remains to be seen if Mourinho is able to land his target man in the summer.
