Jose Mourinho is fearful of losing Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo to PSG in the summer, with the Argentine yet to sign an extension.

According to The Sun, Manchester United could be about to lose one of their prime defensive players, with Marcos Rojo on the radar of PSG. The Argentine is yet to sign a contract extension at Manchester United and Jose Mourinho is fearing the prospect of losing the player to the French heavyweights in the summer.

Marcos Rojo was never treated like a sure starter at Manchester United. But, the advent of Jose Mourinho has seen the Argentine slowly become one of the first names on the team sheet when available, owing mainly to his remarkable performances at the back.

Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo had been the designated first-choice pairing for Manchester United before the injury to the Argentine and subsequently, to Bailly this season. But, both of them are now well on their road to recovery and it seems like they could very well be reinstated as the first-choice pairing, especially with the insipid displays from the team at the back, in their absence.

One major point of contention though, is Rojo’s contract, which is set to expire in the summer of 2019. There has been no movement towards the Argentine signing an extension and Jose Mourinho fears that if Rojo does not sign a new contract by the end of the season, PSG could come in and entice the player to move to Parc des Princes.

PSG are reportedly preparing a £30 million summer move for Rojo, which in all honesty, will represent more than fair value, considering the Argentine will enter his last year of his Manchester United contract in the summer.

Jose Mourinho does have Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly and the on-loan Axel Tuanzebe to look towards as his options in central defence apart from Rojo. But, the manager is prepared to offload Jones and Smalling, which would mean Rojo’s departure in the summer could do some serious damage to United and Mourinho.

Rojo himself is likely pleased with his current status within the Manchester United squad and should, in all likeliness, be open to signing an extension at the club. But, United must gather pace, lest they fear the player looking towards PSG as a more realistic destination in the summer.
