Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Nabil Fekir, who is valued at around £45 million by his current club Olympique Lyonnais.

The contract conundrum at Arsenal seems to have finally eased, with the January transfer window producing a fair bit of positives for the Gunners. But, it seems Arsene Wenger is not yet done and is looking to add another creative midfielder to his squad, as he eyes a summer move for £45 million rated Lyon superstar Nabil Fekir, according to Daily Mail.

In fact, Arsenal are looking to complete the move before the initiation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup as a good performance from Fekir at the event could ignite interest from other clubs and also cause Lyon to increase their valuation of the creative midfielder.

Nabil Fekir has been linked with a move away from Lyon for the better part of the last two years, but has somehow not been courted as heavily by the top clubs. But, his form in front of goal this season could change that, with the player boasting an enviable record of 21 goals and 5 assists in 31 games in all competitions so far, that too mainly from the attacking midfield.

Any player who is not a striker, with the kind of tally that Fekir has, is sure to attract the very best of clubs. And it seems Arsenal are looking at the prospect of bringing him in when the transfer window reopens.

Arsenal currently have a gamut of options in attack, with Mesut Ozil’s future also secured at Emirates. But, there has been uncertainty surrounding the future of Alexandre Lacazette, with many speculating that the Frenchman could seek newer pastures if he fails to establish himself as a regular before the end of the season.

While Arsenal are looking to acquire Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona, they are now shifting their focus towards their long-term target Nabil Fekir. The 24-year-old has been on Arsenal’s radar for a while and could ideally now come to Emirates in the summer, if Arsenal do manage to succeed in negotiating with Lyon.

Lyon value the player at around £45 million but a barrier tougher than the fee is the fact that the club do not intend to part ways with the 24-year-old. Arsenal could convince Lyon but a lot of it will depend upon whether Fekir himself pushes for a move. A deal that hinges more upon how Arsenal and Lyon end their respective seasons.
