Chelsea are reportedly taking a keen interest in Paris Saint-Germain youngster Abdourahmane Barry, who is being tailed by a host of top European clubs.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are keen on Paris Saint-Germain youngster Abdourahmane Barry. The PSG youth prospect is on the radar of a host of top European clubs. The player though, could be the next one to exit the PSG youth setup, with Chelsea and other clubs interested in him.

Abdourahmane Barry’s days at PSG could be numbered. The player is a local lad. Born in Paris, he has been touted as one for the future. But, his PSG contract is up for expiry at the end of the season. And with so many clubs interested in him, PSG could have a real task at hand in order to convince him to commit to a new deal.

While the likes of Wolfsburg and Chelsea are the only clubs named, there are reportedly others pursuing the 17-year-old as well. At Chelsea, the Board has always targeted young and budding prospects in order to secure their future at Stamford Bridge. And while they have not been as successful in embedding the youngsters in to the first-team, majority of their youngsters have been able to secure a career for themselves at other top clubs.

But, of late, under the stewardship of Antonio Conte, there has been a welcome change in the first-team setup. Andreas Christensen has been heavily involved in the first-team at Stamford Bridge, with Ethan Ampadu also incorporated in the senior squad as well.

Apart from the two, many other youngsters have been handed debuts at Chelsea this season. This could encourage Barry to swap Paris for London. At 17, the player is unlikely to be thrust into the starting lineup anytime soon at PSG and while he would not expect for the same at Chelsea, he can take inspiration from Ethan Ampadu’s progression, who made his Chelsea debut within a few months of joining the club.

Barry is one of the many modern-era defenders, with the player also able to take the field as a right-back and a defensive midfielder, apart from his natural position as a centre-back.

PSG’s chances of retaining Barry do look slim and it would not be too much of a stretch to say that he might be already on his way out of the club, be it to Chelsea, Wolfsburg or any other outfit.
