Arsenal are reportedly set to face competition from RB Leipzig in pursuit of highly-rated Hoffenheim star Nadiem Amiri.

According to TransferMarketWeb, the number of clubs that are after Nadiem Amiri has just increased by one, with RB Leipzig entering the race for the highly-rated attacker. The Hoffenheim starlet has been on the radar of Arsenal for a while, with the Bundesliga entertainers joining the chase as well.

Nadiem Amiri has come through the ranks at Hoffenheim, with the player’s rise coinciding with that of club manager Julien Nagelsmann. The player has been deployed all across midfield, which is often good for the development of a young prospect.

But, just like the interest in Nagelsmann, Amiri has been gaining a lot of attention from the top clubs in Europe, despite having a very underwhelming tally of 4 goals and 2 assists in 19 games this season – more goals than what he managed in the entirety of the last campaign.

Arsenal could do with a player of Amiri’s calibre, especially with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez all set to exit the club, the latter in the coming days itself. The 21-year-old could prove to be a prospect that locks a spot for himself in the squad for the next decade or so, and more importantly, a player Arsenal can build around.

Arsenal are in total disarray, even if one keeps the personnel issues aside. The Gunners failed to finish in the top four last season and the current scenario looks grim as well. They are currently sixth on the table, eight points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Arsenal are not one of the safer bets to finish in the top four this season. But, if you think otherwise and want to place your bet on the Gunners to make it to the top four, you might want to take a look at all bookies that entice you with a free bet before you open your account.

The Gunners will need a rebuild and Amiri’s addition could be one of the many important steps that should be on their agenda. But, Arsenal now find competition in the form of RB Leipzig, who seem to have entered the chase for the Hoffenheim youngster.

The player will indeed be more comfortable staying within the same league instead of choosing the journey to test himself in a new league and to take up the challenge of settling in a new country as well. While this could hand Leipzig the advantage, the heritage that the Arsenal football club possesses could sway Amiri’s mind.

For now, neither of the suitors look poised to land the 21-year-old and we might have to wait till the summer before the picture becomes clearer, wherein other clubs could join the chase as well. Arsenal would hope it isn’t the case come summer.
