Tottenham have reportedly entered the race to sign Lucas Moura and will need to beat competition from Manchester United to land the PSG winger.

According to a report by Le 10 Sport, Tottenham are in the race to bring Brazilian Lucas Moura to North London from PSG. Spurs are not the first team to show an interest in the Brazilian winger, with Manchester United keen on bolstering their attack and by signing Moura.

The race for Lucas Moura is gaining momentum as Manchester United and now Tottenham have joined other clubs in a bid to sign the exciting winger and end his PSG exile. Spurs consider Moura as a viable option to bolster their attack which lacks speed, especially on the right side of attack.

Harry Kane has been the only consistent performer for Tottenham, who were one of the most dangerous sides in England last season. This season, however, Spurs have lacked the killer instinct in attack, which has seen them drop out of champions league positions as things stand in the Premier League table.

The likes of Dele Alli, Son Heung-Min and the recently returned Erik Lamela have blown hot and cold, and Mauricio Pochettino is willing to dip into the market for a winger. Lucas Moura would fit the bill straight away to enhance their options on the right side.

Manchester United, though, are also credited with a genuine interest in Moura, reportedly ready to make an offer for the winger. The Red Devils have somewhat lacked in attack, with their early season form petering out and would want to make use of the January window to solve the problems on the right wing.

Lucas Moura has endured a torrid season, after making just five appearances for PSG in Ligue 1. Despite enjoying the best season of his career in 2016/17, the big spending Parisian club brought in players like Neymar and Kylian Mbappe who effectively squeezed him out of the first-team setup.

Moura is still only 25 and has a lot of football ahead of him. He is a fast, tricky player who could fit into any big Premier League side given his talents. All he needs is a fresh start somewhere, where there is competition and belief that he would thrive.

There have been reports of interest from other Ligue 1 clubs as well from Spain, but Moura, if he moves would prefer playing in one of Premier League’s top clubs. Keeping that in mind, Manchester United and Tottenham could be attractive options for the Brazilian, capable of offering Champions League football as well.

PSG are looking to offload players, especially to balance their books after the huge outlays on Neymar and Mbappe. Their preference is to sell Moura, but if they receive no bids for a permanent transfer by the end of the window, the player could be sent out on loan instead.

The favourites, as of now, are Manchester United, with reports suggesting that Moura would prefer a switch to Old Trafford. It now remains to be seen which way the player heads off to, as the race to sign him starts heating up.
