Borussia Dortmund are set to join Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Bordeaux’s highly-rated forward Malcom

Premier League clubs Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will face added competition in their hunt for Brazilian winger Malcom, with German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund also set to throw their hat in the ring, according to reports from The Sun.

The 20-year old, who plies his trade for French Ligue 1 outfit Bordeaux, has been tipped for great things in the future, following his sensational start to the 2017/18 campaign.

Malcom joined Bordeaux in January 2016 from Corinthians back in his homeland and has established himself as a key player in the scheme of things for the French side. In his two years at the club, the 20-year old has made 78 appearances across all competitions, in which he has netted 18 times and registered 13 assists.

In the 2017/18 campaign, the speedy winger has scored seven times and set up five more in 20 games in all competitions. The two-time capped Brazil U-23 international has a contract with the club that runs till the summer of 2021.

Dortmund are said to be in the market for a new wide player, after having sold Ousmane Dembele to Barcelona in the last summer in a deal that could rise up to £135 million. They seem to have identified Malcom as the man to take over the mantle, entering the race alongside Tottenham and Manchester United and are willing to spend heavy on his signature.

The German outfit were reported to have offered £35 million for his services in the summer, but their advances were rejected by the Ligue 1 side, who have gone on to slap a £45 million price-tag on their prized asset.

Tottenham were reported to have tabled a £31 million bid for Malcom towards the end of 2017, but saw that being knocked back by Bordeaux as well. However, Mauricio Pochettino is intent on getting a new winger in his squad and is expected to come back with a bigger offer for the Manchester United target.

The wide areas are something that the Argentine has been trying to strengthen for quite a while now and has seen attempts to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace fail on multiple occasions.

Manchester United too, are understood to be closely monitoring the young forward, as the Portuguese tactician looks to chase down neighbours Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. But, the Red Devils are reluctant to meet the lofty fee being demanded by Bordeaux.

Manchester United have also been heavily linked with a move for Malcom’s compatriot and Paris Saint-Germain attacker Lucas Moura. Malcom’s similarity to Anthony Martial in terms of playing style and skillset could also pose roster problems, should United pursue the Brazilian.
