Arsenal are reportedly the latest entrant in the race to sign Chelsea superstar David Luiz, who is also being tailed by Manchester United.

According to an exclusive report by Express, David Luiz will not be short of options come January, with Chelsea looking to offload the player in the upcoming transfer window. The Brazilian is also on the radar of Manchester United, with a few other clubs also thought to be in pursuit of the defender.

David Luiz’s second spell at Chelsea has been as successful as his first one. However, the Brazilian has come off as a more mature presence in the middle of a 3-man backline, orchestrating the defence in Chelsea’s march to the title in Antonio Conte’s maiden Premier League managerial campaign.

But, a recent spat between the player and Antonio Conte seems to have put question marks over his future at Chelsea. The Brazilian was dropped for a few games and while he has been welcomed back into the setup, he has now succumbed to an injury, which is set to keep him out for at least the next couple of games.

There are reports that, while Conte wants the Brazilian to be a part of his setup at Stamford Bridge he is also open to the idea of offloading him in January, which has brought forth interest from several clubs.

Jose Mourinho has always liked David Luiz’s personality and United do seem to be in need of such a character in defence. United have been reported to be looking for additions in the central defensive area and Luiz’s signing could prove to be a huge shot in the arm for the Red Devils in their title challenge.

But, Arsenal have now entered the race. The Gunners have a similar 3-man backline, which means David Luiz will be an adequate addition for Arsene Wenger’s men. According to the report, Arsenal are ready to shell out £30 million for the Brazilian, a fee that Chelsea might have trouble agreeing to given the outlay they oversaw to facilitate Luiz’s Stamford Bridge return.

United and Arsenal both will gain a great deal with the addition of Luiz. But, it will again depend on Chelsea’s willingness to potentially bolster a fellow rival.
