Manchester United and Manchester City are among a host of clubs showing genuine interest in Anderlecht prodigy Eliot Matazo.

According to Dutch publication Voetballkrant, Manchester United and Manchester City are set to wage a transfer battle again, this time in pursuit of another young prodigy. Anderlecht wonderkid Eliot Matazo is on the radar of the two Manchester outfits along with a host of top European clubs.

It is not often when you see so many clubs interested in a 15-year-old, meaning the player does seem to be a highly-rated prospect. Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04, RB Leipzig, AS Monaco, Manchester United and Manchester City are all vying to land the Under-16 Anderlecht prodigy.

Eliot Matazo is a prized possession for Anderlecht. In fact, the Belgian giants are already preparing to tie the 15-year-old down to his first professional contract in order to avoid any transfer hustle – for now. Interest in such a widespread scale though, might turn the 15-year-old’s head.

But, till the player turns 16, he is prone to being poached by other clubs, which is what seems to be the mission of the suitors. The report states that the Manchester outfits have already gone one step further than just express their interest. There are reports of Manchester United establishing contact with the player’s entourage.

And United seems to be doing it the right way, with the contact being through Romelu Lukaku’s family – one of the talented products to emanate from the Anderlecht academy.

Matazo’s skill-set is more akin to Anderlecht’s latest prodigious talent – Youri Tielemans. Technically gifted, the 15-year-old would first-and-foremost be looking towards making the senior grade at Anderlecht itself before considering a move to one of the big leagues.

Manchester United have recruited pretty heavily as far as the youth team is concerned. The latest addition to an already star-studded Under-18 United side was Aliou Traore, who has already made his Under-18 debut for his new club.

Manchester City will rival United in another pursuit. But, the Citizens are well aware that United are in the lead currently and we could see a similar scenario to Aliou Traore, who was a target for Juventus and Manchester City as well, only to see United capture the youngster.

A move or not, Matazo is a brilliant prospect for the future and Belgium looks like a country that just keeps on producing talent after talent in the recent years.
