FC Basel youngster Dimitri Oberlin is reportedly attracting a host of top European clubs – Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid and many more.

According to an exclusive report from TransferMarketWeb, FC Basel youngster Dimitri Oberlin is turning heads in Europe with his brand of football. The Swiss Under-21 international is on the radar of Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and AS Roma along with other top European clubs as well.

Dimitri Oberlin is currently on loan at FC Basel, who are reportedly more than likely to take up the option of buying the player on a permanent basis for a fee of €5 million from Red Bull Salzburg.

According to FC Basel team planner Remo Gaugler, the youngster had earlier rejected advances from Manchester United and RB Leipzig during his academy days. And with his first senior season as a regular acting as a breakthrough campaign for him, he expects interest to grow in the 20-year-old’s services.

Possessing the ability to play as a centre-forward, a secondary striker and as a left winger, the 20-year-old has been a regular so far for Basel. While the player has been decent in the domestic league, he has been on song in the Champions League group stage, with 3 goals and an assist in 5 appearances in the competition.

His brace against Benfica caught the eye of a host of top clubs and his performances since then have only seen more clubs added to his growing list of admirers. There are reports that all of the aforementioned top clubs are keen to take a close look at the centre-forward’s performances.

The report entails that scouts from these clubs and more are regularly in stands during Basel games to monitor his development with a view to a potential move in the future.

Among these, Arsenal and Manchester United are two clubs that have been in search of and are in need of reinforcements in the wing area. While Oberlin does not classify as a pure winger, his ability to play in the said position along with his pace and skills make him a perfect recruit for the slot of a winger.

This assist from Oberlin in 2016 while on loan at SC Rheindorf Altach only goes to show the level of talent he was from the very beginning. However, it is only now perhaps, that he has learnt to produce it on a more consistent basis and in a more concentrated manner.

The report from Goal entails a quote for Oberlin from Swiss Newspaper Aargauer Zeitung that says, “Oberlin moves somewhere between genius and madness.”

While we do not know and are not in a position to provide certification or justification of the words used to describe Oberlin, this comes as high praise for a player still in the nascent years of his footballing career.

Labelled as a serpent by one of his coaches during his youth days due to his ability to slither past opponents, the boy from Cameroon has certainly made it large. To many footballers, playing in Europe and being linked with clubs of the stature of the ones that are interested in the 20-year-old is a dream.

Oberlin though, looks like he is just getting started.
