Anthony Martial is reportedly set to remain at Manchester United, amid rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal next summer

According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Anthony Martial has no intention of leaving Manchester United as he is happy and content at the club. The French forward is being targeted for a move next summer by Arsenal as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.

Martial has enjoyed an electric start to his third season at Manchester United after a subdued campaign last term in what was Jose Mourinho’s first year in charge. While he is still not a regular starter, the player has managed to earn the admiration of his manager, who has been quite vocal in his appreciation.

Martial has bagged five goals and six assists in just nine appearances across all competitions – a direct contribution to a goal every 34 minutes. With the kind of form he has displayed so far, the Frenchman is likely to surpass his tally for last season before the next international break in November.

The feat is indeed quite remarkable, and shows that Martial is moving on well from the struggles of last season. But, with his stock on the rise again, Arsenal appear set to make a move for him next summer, in an attempt to replace Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean seems to have no intention of signing a new deal at the Emirates, even as Arsenal have put numerous offers on the table. His current contract with the North London club is set to run out at the end of the season, and he will be free to talk to clubs in January.

The likes of PSG, Manchester City, Chelsea and even Manchester United have been linked with Sanchez, and he looks destined to leave, either in January or next summer.

But while Martial has emerged as a top target for the Gunners as a replacement for Sanchez, the player himself does not seem interested in the move, as he is happy at Manchester United and settled well in the city with his partner.

Indeed, having made such a superb start to the season as well as winning the Red Devils’ Player of the Month award for September, it looks like Martial is relishing his duel with Marcus Rashford and is eager to go from strength to strength at Old Trafford to make up for an underwhelming 2016-17 campaign.
