Gary Neville has urged his former club Manchester United to try and sign Luis Suarez from Barcelona, despite his history with Liverpool.

Gary Neville, in an exclusive interview with Stretty News TV, has said that Luis Suarez would be a perfect fit at Manchester United, urging his former club to try and sign the Uruguayan striker from Barcelona.

The former England and Manchester United captain boldly claimed that Suarez is “a Manchester United player” even though, he has previously played for Liverpool as his attitude makes him the ideal fit at Old Trafford.

“Suarez, even though he played for Liverpool, is a United player. It’s arrogance to say that but he’s fantastic. He scores goals, he’s aggressive, he chases every ball down.”

Suarez joined Barcelona from Liverpool in the summer of 2014 in a reported £65 million deal, after the player had nearly led the Merseyside club to their first ever Premier League title. The move to Camp Nou has seen the Uruguay international progress further, with very few players in Europe managing to be more prolific than the forward.

Widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Suarez has not just been a prolific goalscorer for Barcelona, but has also played a key role in the buildup of goals. In all, the 30-year-old has a staggering record of 123 goals and 72 assists in 154 appearances for the Blaugrana.

The switch to Camp Nou has been highly successful on a professional level as well, with Suarez winning nine trophies in three seasons, including two La Liga and a Champions League. Suffice to say, the move has been a success for the player, who has been a great fit at the club.

With his status as one of the most prolific powerhouses in football, it goes without saying that Suarez would boost the attacking units at most clubs immensely. And Gary Neville would like Manchester United to be such a club.

The Red Devils have made a rampaging start to the 2017-18 season, and goalscoring hasn’t been a problem for Jose Mourinho’s side, with the likes of summer arrival Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial scoring plenty of goals at the early stage of the campaign.

However, Neville believes Suarez would be an ideal fit at Old Trafford due to his aggression and prowess. Having said that though, it remains to be seen if Manchester United make a move for the former Liverpool star, with the player believed to be happy at Camp Nou as well, having only recently signed a new deal at Barcelona.
