Manchester City whizkid Jadon Sancho is reportedly set to snub interest from Manchester United and Arsenal while being keen on a move to Tottenham.

According to ESPN, Manchester City could be set to lose perhaps their best ever bet from the academy in Jadon Sancho. The English whizkid is reportedly ready to snub interest from Manchester United and Arsenal. But, he is looking to seal a move to Tottenham in order to kickstart his senior footballing career.

Jadon Sancho is one of the brightest gems in the up-and-coming generation of English football. The 17-year-old was in prime form for City’s Under-23 squad last season, which saw the player being touted by many as the one of the best hopes for City to prove their academy model.

Sancho was in the midst of a contract standoff at City for a while, with the player asking for assurances over his track into the first-team setup at Etihad. The Citizens were even reported to be offering terms that would have seen the 17-year-old pocket £30,000 per week.

However, Pep Guardiola may have facilitated in drawing the last straw from the situation, knowingly or otherwise, by not picking the player in the squad to be part of the pre-season tour, preferring the likes of Phil Foden and Ibrahim Diaz over the English talent.

Manchester United and Arsenal are both looking to beef up their wide attacking options while Tottenham too look to add some more options in attack. However, United’s capture of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is likely to see Mourinho deploy Marcus Rashford out wide.

And, another addition in the wide attacking area could hinder Rashford’s game time, which would not go down well with the club or the fans. Sancho has one year left on his current scholarship deal with City but is free to sign for another club, given that there is no professional contract in place.

The 17-year-old, though, will only be eligible to play for another club either after the end of the scholarship with City or before but only with the club’s permission. City, on the other hand, are unwilling to release the player and are still hopeful of getting the academy graduate to commit to the blue half of Manchester.

Tottenham have also resisted the temptation to sign Sancho now and are prepared to wait for City’s permission or a more clearer picture before pursuing the talented winger. City will only be entitled compensation, like Chelsea’s case in Dominic Solanke’s move to Liverpool.

Although City are trying to pull out all stops to keep a hold of their prized asset, the reports indicate a move is around the corner for the 17-year-old, who currently favours Tottenham, which may be down to Pochettino’s rapport of developing young players and providing first-team chances to youngsters.
