Barcelona are reportedly inching closer to complete the signing of Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund.

According to a report by French outlet Get French Football News, Barcelona have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for Ousmane Dembele. The Blaugrana are only hours away from wrapping up the deal for the Frenchman in what will cost them €120 million.

Dembele’s stock has been skyrocketing in the last couple of seasons, with the player widely regarded as one of the most exciting young prospects in the world. An integral figure for Dortmund last season, he made 49 appearances in all competitions with an impressive record of 10 goals and 21 assists to show for his efforts.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Dembele has become one of the most highly sought-after players in the transfer market this summer. Barcelona, though, have been leading the race to sign the player for quite some time now.

The Catalan outfit have been hot on Dembele’s tails for well over a year now. But after being snubbed by him last summer, the Blaugrana look set to sign the player this time around.

Barcelona have been scrambling to find an ideal replacement for Neymar, who joined PSG in a shock move earlier this summer. Following the Brazilian’s departure, the likes of Arda Turan, Gerard Deulofeu and Paco Alcacer are the only recognised options to fill the void on the left side of attack.

While Deulofeu did turn in an impressive performance on his second coming, he is unlikely to be anything but a squad player in the first-team setup. Thus, the Barcelona boss has been eyeing a move for Dembele who, with his playmaking abilities can be the ideal foil to Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The transfer fee, though, has been the major sticking point in the club’s pursuit of sealing a deal, with Dortmund demanding €100 million for the player. But, the latest report suggests that Barcelona have met the asking price, offering a deal worth €120 million to Die Schwarzgelben.

The transfer is now, thus, only hours away from coming to fruition, with Dortmund set to accept the offer, having previously rebuffed each approach from Barcelona. Dembele is expected to travel to Barcelona today to complete his switch to Camp Nou with his dream move to Barcelona set to see the light of the day.
