Everton are reportedly interested in a shock loan deal for Diego Costa amid uncertainty over his Chelsea future

According to a report by The Sun, Ronald Koeman remains keen on seeing Diego Costa play for Everton, who are considering a loan move for the Chelsea striker. Costa is understood to be seeking a move away from Stamford Bridge for months now, and it looks like the Everton boss is eager to capitalize on the situation.

Costa’s journey with Chelsea has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. He has endured several ups and downs ever since he joined the club from Atletico Madrid back in 2014. His name was soon etched onto the list of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League but his temper has proven to be a problem time and again.

Regardless, Costa has been a key factor in Chelsea’s title triumphs over the last three seasons. In the previous campaign, the Spaniard managed to net 20 times and put up several match-winning displays for the champions. However, that got marred by a nasty training ground bust-up Conte, thus fueling speculation of an exit.

Since then, Costa has been strongly linked with a move back to former club Atletico Madrid. However, it might not be all that simple since a transfer ban rendered the Spanish club incapable of signing new players this summer.

With the World Cup coming up next year, Costa will be eager to join a club wherein he can clock regular playing minutes. And After Romelu Lukaku’s departure from the Toffees, the Chelsea man could prove to be an ideal short-term replacement at Goodison.

Additionally, moving to Everton on a loan can be a win-win situation for Koeman as well as Costa. He would get to play regular football for the squad in a World Cup year. Although the Europa League is not the same as the Champions League, he can still get to play European football.

By the time his loan gets over, Atletico’s ban will cease to exist, thus making it the opportune moment for him to go back to his former club, since that seems to be his top priority.
