Manchester City are reportedly considering a sensational move for Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard as Pep Guardiola continues to strengthen his squad at Etihad.

Spanish publication Don Balon are claiming that Pep Guardiola has shifted his attention from one rival superstar to another. The Manchester City manager is now looking to bring Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard to Etihad in a sensational move.

The rumour is a direct proponent to Pep Guardiola’s post-match conference in the aftermath of a hard-fought 2-0 away win at Brighton, where the manager opined that his side must ‘attack better’, which has set the ball rolling on the club’s pursuit of further additions in the attack.

Eden Hazard has become one of the best players on show in the Premier League after joining Chelsea from LOSC Lille in the summer of 2012. And while his debut campaign was not much great, he has grown into an absolute beast of a player.

Last season, the player was back to his best after a slight slump the season before, with 16 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances, leading the Blues to the title – something which was not expected after their disastrous 2015-16 campaign and in Conte’s managerial debut.

And while Hazard has been linked to Barcelona and Real Madrid, the player has maintained that he will be staying at the club. Manchester City, however, pose the latest threat to the aforementioned proposition. According to the report, Guardiola has himself established contact with the Belgian’s entourage.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are somewhat facing a personnel crisis with Antonio Conte also at crossroads with the Blues Board as to the lack of signings, effects of which were seen in the season opener as the club were shocked at home against Burnley.

However, Chelsea cannot afford to lose Eden Hazard this summer. The player’s absence was telling in the first game of the season and with Conte already miffed at the Board, letting Hazard go could see Conte walk out as well, forcing the Blues to go back to the drawing board.

Also, strengthening a rival like Manchester City could just hand the title over to them, as they have already done in the case of Nemanja Matic’s transfer to Manchester United, which has been unequivocally criticised by pundits and even their own manager Antonio Conte.
