Chelsea and Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez and are set to battle Tottenham for the Colombian international.

Dutch publication Telegraaf are claiming that Chelsea and Real Madrid have entered the race for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez. The Colombian international has been linked to Tottenham recently. But, it seems Spurs will have to battle Chelsea and Real Madrid for the defender.

Davinson Sanchez is edging closer to a move away from Ajax, with the player already making the club aware of his wish to secure a move to Tottenham. However, Chelsea and Real Madrid’s entry may complicate the situation.

The Colombian arrived at Ajax from Atletico Nacional in the summer of 2016, rejecting Barcelona in the process – the player was doubtful of being able to break into the first-team setup at Nou Camp. And in his debut season in Europe, the player has established himself as one of the best players in the continent.

The 21-year-old featured in 46 appearances over the course of last season and was an integral part of Ajax’s run to the Europa League finals, which ended in defeat to Manchester United. The player stood out as one of the players to watch and the interest in his services doesn’t seem as much of a surprise.

Ajax do want to keep the player at the club but are unlikely to hold the player against his wishes. There are reports that Spurs are ready to offer an amount in the range of £35 million, something that Ajax could gladly accept.

The amount, though, could also be matched by Chelsea and Real Madrid as well. Chelsea have reinforced their defence with Antonio Rudiger. However, the Blues’ backline was in tatters on Saturday as Chelsea were shocked by Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

And Antonio Conte, who is miffed at a lack of incomings at the club so far this season, is looking to strengthen the defence further, eyeing the likes of Virgil Van Dijk and Davinson Sanchez.

Real Madrid on the other hand, are not in real need of a central defender. But, given Davinson Sanchez’s potential and in line with Real’s current transfer policy, the club is now looking to table an offer for the Colombian.

Sanchez though, seems to edging towards Tottenham and barring another hijack scenario, Spurs look set to open their account for summer arrivals.
