Manchester United have reportedly activated Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca’s release clause, who is currently on loan at Besiktas

According to a report by Fotor Spor, Manchester United have activated Anderson Talisca’s €25 million release clause, and are edging closer to signing a deal with the Brazilian midfielder. The midfielder is understood to have joined Besiktas on a 1+1-year loan deal, but now it seems like he could be on his way to Old Trafford this summer.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Manchester United for a while now after impressing for Benfica and continuing the same form on loan at Besiktas, wherein he managed to score 17 goals in 33 games, helping the Turkish outfit to win the league title.

Although he is due to spend a second term in Istanbul as part of the loan agreement, United are understood to be keen to swoop in to seal a permanent deal for the promising 23-year-old.

The talented Brazilian can play in midfield and upfront as well, proving to be extremely versatile which can potentially make him a value addition at Old Trafford.

The fact that he is so versatile could either mean Jose Mourinho rotates between him and Juan Mata or he could be looking at Talisca to gradually replace Mata with age on the Brazilian’s side.

He also seems very generous in setting up for his teammates which can only mean good news for Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford. Talisca’s physical strength is also a good attribute which can make him a good fit for United’s attack.

However, Juan Mata’s position is likely to be at stake if the deal does go through, unless he chooses to move out of the club this summer. In order to prove himself, he will have to work towards becoming more consistent and compete with Talisca to start more often next season.

Manchester United have already invested in Victor Lindelof from Benfica and could be on their way to sign another Benfica player to add to their midfield. It now remains to be seen if the deal for Talisca materialises or if United deem their transfer business to be done for the summer.
