Chelsea are set to challenge Manchester United in the pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, who could be available this summer.

According to TransferMarketWeb, Chelsea are set to challenge Manchester United for Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, who is a key part of the team but could be available this summer. With Los Blancos aiming to bankroll a move for Kylian Mbappe, the Welshman’s sale could open up a spot in attack for the Frenchman to fill.

Gareth Bale’s rise from an unwanted left-back to one of the most feared players on the planet is well documented. While he established his dominion at Tottenham, it was at Real Madrid where he has finally tasted the glory a player of his calibre deserves.

With three Champions League titles under his belt, in addition to historically winning the competition in the last two seasons, the player is one of the most decorated forwards at the present moment. Last season, missing a chunk of games due to injuries, the player managed a return of 9 goals and 5 assists in 27 appearances – a disappointing campaign for Bale.

And it is his growing trysts with injuries that has Real Madrid looking towards the possibility of replacing the player, especially with the rise of Kylian Mbappe at Monaco. Bale, though, has his own share of suitors, with a return to Premier League possibly on the cards.

Manchester United have been admirers of the player since his days at Tottenham. In fact, the player was thought to be heading towards Old Trafford before Bale opted for Real Madrid instead. And, the romance between the club and the player has reignited this summer, with Bale supposedly on the chopping block at the Bernabeu.

Indeed, this is the best time to offload Bale for Florentino Perez. Real have a readymade replacement in Mbappe, who is interested in a move to the club and would be an option for the next decade and more, unlike Bale. And, they could potentially have a bidding war, with Chelsea entering the fray as well.

Antonio Conte has been fuming with Chelsea’s incompetence in the market, despite signing Antonio Rudiger, Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko this summer. And, with reports of the manager being on the crossroads with the Chelsea hierarchy, the board are looking to gift him a superstar signing.

Bale, with his profile, could be just that and would also see the Blues enter the season as overwhelming favourites for the title. However, Manchester United have been in the race for long and could be in the lead over Chelsea.

Regardless, both the clubs would be keen to land the player if he is made available by Real Madrid and the European Super Cup could be the tipping point, if Zidane doesn’t select Bale in the starting lineup.
