Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini could be on his way to join Galatsaray this summer with the Turkish club believed to working on a deal.

According to a report by The Sun, Marouane Fellaini is likely to join Galatasaray this summer with the club have confirming that they are in talks with Manchester United to work out a deal for the player. The report goes on to add that the Belgian has already agreed personal terms with the Turkish club.

Fellaini’s Manchester United career has been marred with several ups and downs ever since he first stepped foot into Old Trafford. He was signed in a £27.5 million deal from Everton, and his was the only deal that the Red Devils managed to secure in the summer of 2013 as David Moyes took charge at Old Trafford.

As United finished 7th that season, Fellaini endured a rather disastrous season which led to him being at the receiving end of a lot of brutal criticism from the fans. However, last season, he was a regular part of the first-team squad under Mourinho.

Fellaini improved under the Portuguese boss and even wore the captain’s armband in a match against Sunderland back in April. The Belgian played 43 games across all competitions in the previous campaign, scoring three goals while providing one assist.

The midfielder also proved to be largely consistent but with Manchester United inching closer to signing Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, Fellaini could be the player to make way for the incoming Serb at Old Trafford.

If Matic is to join United, Fellaini is likely to be pushed below the pecking order. Hence, it is likely that the Belgium international could seek pastures anew in a bid to play regular first-team football. The deal with Matic though is still not confirmed.

Unless Mourinho receives any sort of confirmation on that deal, selling Fellaini will place greater stress upon United’s midfield since Michael Carrick is also well into the twilight years of his services for the club.

Even if United are unable to land Matic, Mourinho should be quite pleased with the Belgian midfielder’s performances from last season since he was largely a solid customer. Fellaini has always struggled with consistency but he ensured that it was a thing a of the past in the previous campaign, and could be useful in the next one as well.

It now remains to be seen if Manchester United indeed move Fellaini on this summer, or if Jose Mourinho continues to impose his faith in the Belgian midfielder. Galatasaray, though, are hot in pursuit of the player, and with personal terms already agreed it is just a matter of agreeing a fee with United.
