Manchester City are reportedly prepared to offer a staggering £320,000-a-week deal to land Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal this summer.

According to a report in Daily Mail, Manchester City are stepping up their efforts to sign Alexis Sanchez. The Citizens are ready to offer the Chilean forward a mammoth £320,000-a-week contract to persuade him to make the switch from Arsenal this summer.

Sanchez has been a revelation for Arsenal ever since he made his move from Barcelona in the summer of 2014. So much so, that the Chilean has established himself as one of the most menacing attacking players in the Premier League, having been instrumental for the Gunners in the last three years.

The player has gone from strength to strength at the Emirates, and 2016/17 turned out to be the most productive campaign of his senior career, even though the same couldn’t be said about Arsenal. In all, Sanchez turned in a remarkable record of 30 goals and 19 assists in 51 appearances in all competitions.

However, Sanchez’s demeanour on the pitch took a turn for the worse as the campaign wore on, giving initial suggestions that he was perhaps on the exit trail at Arsenal. To make matters worse for the North London club, the player has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal, with little progress over a renewal.

Recent reports have suggested that Sanchez is desperate to depart from the Emirates, with Manchester City, who are hot in his pursuit, his preferred destination. Arsene Wenger, though, has remained defiant, insisting that Sanchez stay at Arsenal, and that he is due to join pre-season training this Sunday.

However, doubts over his participation in training have grown after he posted a picture of himself captioned ‘sick’ on Instagram. Should he not report to training on Sunday, fears over his Arsenal future will only continue to mount.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have made their move for the player, putting an eye watering £320,000-a-week deal on the table to the Chile international. While the amount is still some way off the staggering £400,000-a-week contract that he has demanded from Arsenal, the deal has various performance-related bonuses as sweetener.

Pep Guardiola already has a wealth of attacking players at his disposal at Manchester City, with the likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero at his disposal.

Despite no real shortage of options, the Spaniard is intent pursuing a deal for Sanchez to create a truly formidable squad that can challenge for the Premier League as well as the Champions League. It goes without saying that the 28-year-old will add a lot of value to Guardiola’s squad.

And at 28, he will provide his best years to City. It now remains to be seen if the Sanchez-Guardiola reunion sees the light of the day, or if Arsenal manage to fight on to retain the services of their prized asset.
