Tottenham are set to rival Chelsea in the pursuit of Inter Milan superstar Antonio Candreva, who is reportedly valued around €27.5 million by the Serie A club.

According to TransferMarketWeb, Chelsea now face competition from their local rivals in the pursuit of Inter Milan superstar Antonio Candreva. The Italian international has now emerged as a summer target for Tottenham as well, who are now set to rival Chelsea in the race to sign the cultured winger.

Antonio Candreva is one of the many Italian internationals to ply his trade only in their home nation. The player has swapped clubs on numerous occasions, but all within Italy, with Inter Milan being the latest one – Candreva joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2016.

In his maiden season at Inter Milan, Candreva was one of the more consistent performers in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Nerazzurri. Candreva was ever-present throughout the club’s Serie A campaign and put in an appreciable effort, as evidenced by his return of 6 goals and 11 assists in due course.

However, just a year into his four-year contract at Inter, the player may be on his way out of San Siro. Chelsea have been linked with him since January and Conte seems to have stepped up their pursuit of the Italian international after their failure to land Danilo, who opted to sign for Manchester City.

Alex Sandro too, seems to edging towards a contract extension at Juventus, which has forced Conte to reignite interest in Candreva. The 30-year-old can add some much-needed experience and can be an able challenger for Victor Moses at right wing-back.

However, Tottenham have joined the race as well, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to add depth to his squad, especially with other top Premier League sides on a signing spree, which has started to raise a few eyebrows on a lack of movement in the transfer market as far as Spurs go.

Chelsea are reported to be readying a cash bid worth €27.5 million, which could be fair value for the player, given his age and the time left on his Inter contract. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham match their offer – if Chelsea do submit the aforementioned bid.

At 30, Candreva could look to add trophies to his cabinet, which could see him venture away from his home nation for the first-time in his club career. Given that the two clubs submit acceptable offers to Inter, Chelsea and Conte’s Italian connection could see them pip Tottenham to the winger.
