Out-of-favour Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has caught the fancy of Inter Milan and Wolfsburg with both clubs keen on a summer deal.

According to a report by TransferMarketWeb, Anthony Martial could move to either Inter Milan or Wolfsburg this summer as both clubs appear keen on landing the forward.

Martial was part of the squad Jose Mourinho inherited from Louis van Gaal when he took over last season. While the striker cost the club in excess of £40 million, he has been a disappointment of sorts after managing to score only 25 goals in 91 appearances in the last two years.

The youngster came into the squad at a time when United lacked for any quality upfront and at that time, Martial seemed to be quite an attack-oriented forward. He also managed to net goals now and then and things looked decent enough for the forward until Jose Mourinho took charge.

The Portuguese boss brought in Zlatan Ibrahimovic – the Swedish superstar outshone Martial in terms of playing style and numbers. As a result, Martial was pushed lower down the pecking order and was used as more of a rotational member than a regular starter.

It does seem shocking that a player who was brought in a record deal for a teenager – and somebody who did well enough in his debut season – has come to a point where he barely gets any playing time in a matter of a season or so.

The player was unable to convince Mourinho of his abilities due to which he was left out of the starting eleven. Martial is only 21 years old and very young so he needs as much playing time as possible to hone his skills further.

With the World Cup set to be played next summer, Martial joining either Inter Milan or Wolfsburg can prove to be beneficial since he will easily gain a lot more playing time.

If Martial remains at United, next season will prove to be a bigger hurdle for him if Ivan Perisic joins the squad. It was earlier reported that Inter wanted Martial in exchange for Perisic which might be a win-win situation for all parties involved since the Frenchman will receive a good opportunity to start afresh and re-build his career.

It now remains to be seen if either club manages to secure the services of the French starlet or if he ends up staying at Manchester United to fight for his future at the club.
