Everton are reportedly in pole position to land Feyenoord wonderkid Joshua Zirkzee and are set to beat Arsenal and Manchester United to the 16-year-old.

According to Daily Mail, Everton are continuing their impressive overtures in the transfer market. The present transfer market has already been easily their best so far in Premier League history. And they are set for another transfer coup, with the Toffees in pole position ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United to land Joshua Zirkzee.

Joshua Zirkzee is a 16-year-old Feyenoord wonderkid that joined the ranks at the Dutch club last year only, from fellow outfit ADO Den Haag. And in a year’s time, the player has established himself as a prodigious striker, with a phenomenal tally for the youth sides, which has seen him being promoted to the Under-19s.

The 16-year-old recorded a tally of 33 goals in just 27 appearances – a mammoth tally. And his displays have caught the attention of Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton. Manchester United have recently been very active in recruiting youth prospects, especially from Netherlands.

While Tahith Chong has already impressed in his first season at the club after joining last summer, Millen Baars, who has joined the club recently, is also heavily touted as a future superstar. And, the Red Devils have also been looking at Joshua Zirkzee to add to their already impressive Under-18 squad.

Arsenal, on the other hand, have not seen many exciting players come through their academy to be an integral part of the first-team setup. Hence, the Gunners have been looking to add more prospects to the academy squad to boost the quality of players coming through.

However, it is Everton, who now have the upper hand and are in pole position to land the 16-year-old gem. The Toffees have conducted some remarkable business in the transfer window so far. But, the players brought in have been additions to the first-team.

Zirkzee, on the other hand, will serve more as an addition in the long scheme of things and to boost the academy setup, which is already one of the better ones in the world.

It would be interesting to see, though, whether Zirkzee ultimately does opt for Everton, which would be a huge transfer coup for the Toffees, considering the interest from Arsenal and Manchester United. Who knows, the Premier League might just be witnessing the birth of a new giant in English football – atleast in terms of pull, if not results already.
