Arsenal are reportedly willing to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City for a colossal £80 million as the Chilean has only a year left on his contract.

According to a report by The Mirror, Arsenal will demand £80 million from Manchester City for the services of Alexis Sanchez as Pep Guardiola’s side prepare to make an official offer. Although the Gunners were reluctant to let him leave, Sanchez has been clear about exiting this summer despite getting a new contract offered to him.

Sanchez has been a key figure in Arsenal’s success ever since he joined them from Barcelona back in the summer of 2014. He has only improved playing for the Gunners and was especially strong in the last three seasons wherein he established himself as one of the best and most-sought after players in the Premier League.

The 2016/17 season in particular, turned out to be the best term of his senior career so far as Sanchez recorded 30 goals and 19 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions for Arsenal. Despite that, the Gunners endured a humiliating season and settled for a fifth-place finish, ergo losing out on a Champions League spot.

The Gunners did enjoy a late FA Cup triumph by beating Premier League champions Chelsea but that seems to have not done enough impact to persuade Sanchez to stay since the Chilean striker is in search of regular Champions League football.

As a result, his next destination appears to be the Etihad Stadium as he seems interested in a reunion with former boss Pep Guardiola.

If the deal goes through, Guardiola will have a lot of options in attack which now also includes the new signing Bernardo Silva. Sanchez’s arrival will only add to an already strong attack which includes the likes of David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero and Nolito.

While a move to City can guarantee Champions League football, Sanchez will have to fight tooth and nail to get regular starts since they have so many options to choose from. Having said that, Guardiola has identified Sanchez as one of his top targets and is likely to have something particular in mind for the Chilean.
