Liverpool are reportedly facing stiff competition from Southampton in the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund starlet Emre Mor.

Daily Mirror are claiming that Liverpool’s pursuit of Emre Mor has just got tougher. Southampton are also eyeing a move for the Borussia Dortmund winger, who is demanding a loan move from the club in order to get extended playing time. The Bundesliga heavyweights are ready to let the player leave on loan as well.

Liverpool were touted to be the preferred destination, with Jurgen Klopp, the former Dortmund manager, incharge at Anfield. However, Southampton and Real Sociedad have both expressed interest in the winger, who has already impressed in his debut season at Westfalenstadion.

The Turkish youngster arrived at Dortmund from Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2016 and was straight away handed first-team playing experience under Thomas Tuchel. The 18-year-old ended the campaign with a total of 19 appearances under his belt for the first-team, with a return of 1 goal and 3 assists for the side.

However, with Tuchel’s departure and the arrival of Petsr Bosz, there may be limited opportunities available for the young Turk, which makes a loan move the best possible avenue for the player to get some invaluable top-flight experience under his belt.

English Premier League is hailed as the most competitive league in the world and a good season in England can really see Mor stake a claim for a regular spot in the first team at Dortmund the season after. Liverpool are in need of addition of depth to their attack but are unlikely to be able to offer a regular place in the lineup.

Southampton on the other hand, can offer a regular spot in the starting lineup but that will also depend heavily on the manager that arrives at St. Mary’s after Claude Puel was given his marching orders by the Saints’ Board.

In all likeliness, a move to Real Sociedad can offer a regular place for Mor and extended game time but the 18-year-old will not be able to play European football, which only Liverpool will be able to provide, among the three suitors.

Jurgen Klopp has a healthy relationship with Dortmund, which could very well see the Reds beat Southampton to the Turkish winger, who can fill in at all three spots in attack, which will entitle him to be a cover at all three positions for Klopp and provide him with an opportunity to get more game time under his belt.

Liverpool and Southampton already seem to have soured their relationship with the Saints accusing the Reds of tapping up their superstar Virgil Van Dijk, which saw Liverpool issue a public apology.
