Liverpool and Derby County have reportedly agreed upon a permanent deal for the sale of defender Andre Wisdom

According to a report by Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has decided to let Andre Wisdom join Derby County after the defender spent last season on loan at Red Bull Salzburg. The move is set to go through after a medical since it is believed that personal terms have already been discussed.

The fee will come to about £2 million but that can rise up to £4.5 million if certain targets are met.

Wisdom spent last season on loan at Red Bull Salzburg, where he helped the team pick up the league title and cup double. He did finish a previous loan spell at Derby and he made 34 appearances during Steve McClaren’s reign. Now, he is all set to rejoin the club after Gray Rowett has taken charge.

Salzburg are also eager to secure another loan season for Wisdom, but Liverpool are reported to be looking for a permanent deal.

The defender progressed through Liverpool’s youth set-up after his move from Bradford in back 2008. Unfortunately for Wisdom, it was adjudged that he did not have enough potential in him at that point to develop into a first team player. Currently, he has turned things around by displaying good performances during his loan spells.

The Leeds-born defender is extremely versatile and a product of Liverpool’s academy. He made his debut for the Merseyside club back in September 2012.

The 24-year-old has made 22 appearances in total for Liverpool after arriving at Anfield from Bradford’s youth team back in 2008. He has been on loan for a while now and Jurgen Klopp is looking to off-load as many fringe players as he can this summer since that can also provide extra cash for pursuing big targets.

Wisdom is essentially very athletic and possess good physical strength. In fact, he can hold up his own even in the Premier League but Liverpool are looking for a sale. With two years left on his contract this summer, this is the perfect time for Liverpool to try and cash in on Wisdom in order to obtain maximum benefit.

Meanwhile, the Reds have also been linked with signing Naby Keita from RB Leipzig since they do need quality midfielders ahead of next season. Klopp is keen on boosting their attack and was even expected to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid, but the youngster recently signed a new deal with Los Blancos.
