Manchester United and Manchester City have reportedly both renewed their interest in and are set for a summer battle for controversial PSG superstar Serge Aurier.

As per a TransferMarketWeb exclusive, Manchester United and Manchester City have both renewed their interest in Paris Saint-Germain superstar Serge Aurier. The controversial star has been linked with the Manchester duo often and it seems the clubs are set to pursue the player again as Mourinho and Guardiola look to reinforce the right side of the defence.

Serge Aurier was widely considered as as one of the most formidable right-backs in the world after joining PSG in July, 2015. However, the 24-year-old has been continuously been mired in controversy, which has seen the Ivory Coast international miss a Champions League fixture after he was banned from entering the United Kingdom.

His controversial nature has put his PSG future in doubt and despite making, in total, 32 appearances in all competitions, the player has been continuously linked to other clubs – top clubs, though, with Barcelona, Manchester United and Manchester City all interested in the player.

Manchester United do not really have much trouble at right-back, thanks to the incredible Antonio Valencia, who has retrained himself to become one of the best right-backs in the league at the present moment. However, Jose Mourinho is known to prefer naturals and is looking to add a natural right-back to his squad.

Manchester City, too, like their neighbours are looking to sign full-backs. Pep Guardiola needs fresh and energetic players on either wing, something the present options cannot provide, with all of them on the wrong side of 30. Pep is reported to be close to sealing a move for Benjamin Mendy, who will occupy the left-back slot, if he arrives at Etihad.

City have been linked with Kyle Walker. However, the Citizens may look to go for Serge Aurier as a somewhat cheaper and younger alternative to the Englishman, with the Ivory Coast star having just 2 years left on his current deal at PSG.

The player has also been tailed by Arsenal and if Hector Bellerin ends up leaving, the Gunners may re-enter the race as well. The 24-year-old will be more than keen to join either of the Manchester side, with the lure of playing under one of the best managers of the current generation – Mourinho or Guardiola.

It will be interesting however, to see which half he opts to choose or whether he ends up moving somewhere entirely different, with Barcelona also waiting in the wings.
