Liverpool and Everton are poised to go head-to-head in the pursuit of £10 million-rated Anderlecht striker Lukasz Teodorczyk in the summer.

Daily Mirror are claiming that Everton have joined the race for Anderlecht striker Lukasz Teodorczyk. The Polish international is already being tailed by Sevilla and Liverpool. However, the Reds now face competition from the blue half of Merseyside in the pursuit of the forward.

Lukasz Teodorczyk has been dominant upfront for Anderlecht since joining the club in 2015 from Dynamo Kyiv. This season, though, the player has surpassed all expectations with a blistering campaign – one that has seen him notch up 30 goals and 5 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions, with 20 of those goals coming in the Belgian league.

It comes, thus, as no surprise that there are several top European clubs taking a closer look and exploring the possibility of moving for the player in the summer. Liverpool and West Ham United were linked with the player earlier as well. And while the Reds have retained their interest in him, Sevilla and subsequently, Everton have emerged as fresh suitors for the striker.

Liverpool are in dire need of a quality striker to lead their energetic and exciting squad, especially with the continuous fitness struggles of Daniel Sturridge, which has seen Divock Origi as the only potent option for the role. Jurgen Klopp has been compelled to field the likes of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in a False-9 role, using Origi only sporadically.

Thus, the 26-year-old could be a viable addition to the squad, with European experience under his belt and he could be seen by Klopp as a project similar to Robert Lewandowski – a player who arrived at Dortmund as a promising talent before turning into the world superstar he is today.

Everton, though, are now seeking to battle their local rivals for the 26-year-old. The Toffees are resigned to losing Romelu Lukaku in the summer and are looking towards various prospects as replacement for the outbound Belgian. Teodorczyk could provide the club with a similarly prolific profile, something which may interest Koeman and his employers.

The player is contracted to Anderlecht till 2020 and is valued at around £10 million by his club – a valuation that seems more than generous considering his form and the fact that he has 3 years left on his current deal. The 26-year-old could be tempted to move to the cash-rich and illustrious Premier League and test his mantle in the cut-throat competition.

Also, to lead the line of a club like Liverpool or Everton is a mouth-watering prospect for strikers. The Reds, though, have the lure of Champions League, which may hand them an advantage over the Toffees in the pursuit of the 26-year-old.

No club has so far tabled an offer that meets the £10 million valuation. However, the same can soon change depending on Liverpool’s pursuit of other superstars and the timing of departure of Romelu Lukaku from Everton – a prospect that is more a question of when rather than if at the present stage.
